CHARLESTON -- A Kanawha County man is suing West Virginia American Water after he claims he has experienced water interruptions on a daily basis for more than one year.
Wayne Morgan, the president of West Virginia American Water, and Gary Lohse, the senior managing engineer of West Virginia American Water, were also named as defendants in the case.
Michael Eugene Mounts has experienced daily water interruptions since Jan. 15, 2009, including no or low water pressure for a period ranging from three hours to 18 hours, according to a complaint filed April 27 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Mounts claims other customers and residents of Arborland Acres have experienced the same water problems as he has.
Due to the water company not providing adequate water pressure, Mounts has been exposed to health care issues due to having to store water around his residence and has been placed at risk should a fire occur at his residence, according to the suit.
Mounts is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is representing himself.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles King.
