Couple sues Taco Bell for injuries

WINFIELD -- A man and his wife are suing Taco Bell of America after he was injured in the Scott Depot restaurant location.

On Dec. 28, 2009, Terrance Stanley was entering the premises of the restaurant when he slipped on snow and black ice that had accumulated on the sidewalk, according to a complaint filed May 7 in Putnam Circuit Court.

Stanley claims the defendant failed to use due care in keeping the premises reasonably safe.

As a result of the defendant's failure to use due care, Stanley fell and suffered permanent and lasting injuries to his shoulders, back, neck and torso, which resulted in medical expenses exceeding $10,000, according to the suit.

Stanley's wife, Leaann Stanley, suffered a loss of care, comfort, companionship and consortium of her husband, according to the suit.

The Stanleys are seeking compensatory damages. They are being represented by Harvey D. Peyton.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Phillip Stowers.
