CHARLESTON -- A South Charleston man is suing City National Bank after he claims his employment was wrongfully terminated.
Matthew A. Myers was employed by the defendant from June 29, 2007, until Aug. 8, 2008, at its Southridge Wal-Mart location, according to a complaint filed May 14 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Myers claims he filed for bankruptcy on July 4, 2008, and on July 9, 2008, a copy of the order to commence withholding was mailed to City National Bank.
After the bank received and processed the order for garnishment of Myers' wages, it abruptly terminated his employment, according to the suit.
Myers claims the reason the bank gave him for his termination was his purported improper handling of a loan transaction and that he was not afforded any warning, probation or any other progressive disciplinary proceedings.
Myers is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is being represented by Dana F. Eddy.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis Bloom.
