Church sues Putnam man for vehicle damages

WINFIELD -- The Church of Jesus Christ LDS is suing a Putnam County man for damages done to a vehicle during a collision.

On June 4, 2008, a vehicle driven by Freddie Clifton Lockard collided with a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu being driven by Robert L. Suttles and owned by the church, according to a complaint filed May 12 in Putnam Circuit Court.

The church claims the collision and resulting damage done to its vehicle and physical injuries to Suttle were caused by the negligence, carelessness and/or recklessness of the defendant.

As a result of the collision, Lockard, who did not have valid motor vehicle insurance at the time of the collision, owes the church $17,003.51, according to the suit.

The church is seeking damages in the amount of $17,003.51, plus pre- and post-judgment interest. It is being represented by Ryan S. Marsteller.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Phillip M. Stowers.
