Mason Co. woman sues Thomas Foundation for injuries

CHARLESTON -- A Mason County woman is suing Thomas Memorial Hospital Foundation after she fell on its premises and was injured.

On Feb. 26, Mary Wolfe fell on an uneven section of the sidewalk going to the parking lot of Thomas Memorial Hospital and sustained injuries to her face, hand and back, according to a complaint filed May 18 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Wolfe claims the defendant is responsible for properly maintaining the parking lot and surrounding sidewalks. She claims the area where she fell was not properly cemented and an uneven section of the sidewalk presented a tripping and falling hazard.

Thomas Memorial Hospital Foundation was negligent and/or reckless and breached its duty of care and maintenance by allowing the sidewalks to exist in a dangerous condition, according to the suit.

Wolfe is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Paul M. Stroebel.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
