* On Dec. 20, 2008, Corley Property Management contracted with the defendants to build a new home in Briarwood Estates. The plaintiff claims it provided sample blueprints in a timely manner, which were agreed upon to use as a starting point. Corley Property Management has paid a total of $130,000 to the defendants for the work, but claims it found numerous and significant defects in the home. The plaintiff is seeking $16,746 for repairs; $2,200 for hiring expenses; $4,500 for additional insurance, utilities and interest; $12,500 for the contractor fee paid to the defendants; at least $15,000 for profits unjustly accepted by defendants; and $100,000 for punitive damages.

Betty Keeney vs. Lavalette Public Service District

* On Aug. 21, 2008, Keeney was at Sherri's Special Occasions in Lavalette and was outside of the shop when she noticed a discarded coffee cup in the front yard of the shop. She claims when she went to pick it up, her right foot slipped from the grass and onto the steel water cover lid, which flipped, causing her right foot and leg to slip into the hole underneath the lid and cause her injuries. She is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest.
