CHARLESTON -- Two Pennsylvania women are suing 85 companies they claim are responsible for their family member's lung cancer and death.
Violent Nell Sheaffer was diagnosed with lung cancer on Aug. 22, 2008, according to a complaint filed Aug. 20 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
On March 11, Sheaffer died and Robin Rabickow and Tammy Sheaffer were named co-administratrixes of her estate, according to the suit.
The plaintiffs claim Violet Nell Sheaffer was employed by B&W from 1975 until 1981, but her ex-husband held numerous jobs throughout their marriage with the defendants, which caused her to be exposed to her husband's asbestos-ladened clothing.
The plaintiffs are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. They are being represented by Brian A. Prim.
The case has been assigned to a visiting judge.
