Municipal judge for Charleston, Nitro stepping down

Taylor

CHARLESTON -- Municipal Judge Shawn Taylor announced on Sept. 21 that he will step down from his judicial duties effective Oct. 29.

Taylor is the current elected municipal judge for Charleston and the appointed municipal judge for Nitro. He is also employed by the law firm of Farmer, Cline & Campbell, where he practices Social Security disability and SSI law. His practice, which is rapidly growing, covers the entire state of West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, south eastern Ohio and parts of Virginia.

Taylor said his commitment to public service will continue, as he looks forward to serving his communities through volunteer organizations.

"One of the most difficult burdens a person can experience is to be injured or very ill, unable to work and provide for their family, and be denied Social Security disability or SSI benefits," Taylor said. "The staff at Farmer, Cline & Campbell work very hard to prepare the strongest case possible. I love my work, and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to help people in need every day."

Taylor said it has been a tremendous honor serving the people of Charleston and Nitro during the past five years.

"I will miss my co-workers in the cities of Charleston and Nitro, but look forward to dedicating my entire professional life to those who have entrusted me with the responsibility of guiding them through the Social Security appeals process," Taylor said.

Taylor has been practicing law for more than 18 years. He is a member of the West Virginia State Bar Association, where he serves on the Social Security Law Committee and also holds membership with the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives, the American Association for Justice, the West Virginia Association for Justice and the Kanawha County Bar Association.

He obtained his undergraduate degrees in economics and philosophy from Vanderbilt University in 1998 before graduating from West Virginia University College of Law in 1992.
