Man sues Teamsters for failure to find jobs

HUNTINGTON -- A man is suing the Executive Board of Teamsters Local Union No. 505 for failure to find jobs for its members.

Dennis B. Morgan, the president of the Executive Board of Teamsters Local Union No. 505; John Newton, the secretary treasurer of the union; and Zack Samples, the vice president of the union were also named as defendants in the suit.

Rex D. Black Sr. is a member of the union, which is a affiliated with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, according to a complaint filed Aug. 30.

Black claims the defendants failed to go out and get jobs for its members, failed to attend pre-job conferences on jobs available for members, has filled available positions with employees outside the union when union members were available, filled positions based on gender and failed to properly fulfill its purpose.

The defendants negligently and intentionally inflicted emotional distress upon Black, according to the suit.

Black is seeking damages in an amount to be determined with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by R. Stephen Jarrell.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
