HUNTINGTON -- A Logan County woman is suing Cabell Huntington Hospital after she claims the hospital is responsible for her family member's death.

On Sept. 17, 2008, Christopher Workman presented to the emergency room department of Logan General Hospital in Logan County and was diagnosed with a parietal contusions, subdural hematoma and poly-substance abuse, according to a complaint filed Sept. 3 in Cabell Circuit Court.

A urine drug screen was performed and Workman tested positive for cannabinoids, benzodiazepines, opiates and methadone, according to the suit.

Brenda Workman claims Christopher Workman was transferred to Cabell Huntington Hospital later that same evening for neurosurgeon services.

Brenda Workman claims from Sept. 17 until his death on Sept. 19, 2008, Christopher Workman was restrained and secluded. She claims the hospital did not follow restraint policies.

The defendants were negligent and caused Christopher Workman's "tragic and needless death," according to the suit.
