Couple sues GM, T.P. Chevrolet for defective vehicle

CHARLESTON -- A Kanawha County couple is suing General Motors and T.P. Chevrolet after they claim the vehicle they purchased was defective.

On April 8, 2008, James Lake and Linda Lake purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt from the defendants, according to a complaint filed Sept. 13 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

The Lakes claim after they purchased the vehicle, they discovered and experienced repeated non-conformities with the vehicle.

Despite their efforts to allow the defendants an opportunity to repair the vehicle, the defendants failed to repair it, according to the suit.

The Lakes are seeking for the contract involved be declared canceled and compensatory and punitive damages. They are being represented by Kristina Thomas Whiteaker and David L. Grubb.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James C. Stucky.
