Calif. woman sues Wal-mart for injuries in Morgantown store

MORGANTOWN -- A California woman is suing Wal-mart after she claims they are responsible for injuries she sustained in one of its Morgantown stores.

On Sept. 20, 2008, Eloise Hanson visited the Wal-mart in Morgantown and sat down on a bench to rest while her friends continued to shop, according to a complaint filed Sept. 13 in Monongalia Circuit Court.

Hanson claims shortly after she sat down on the bench, an unknown Wal-mart employee was pulling a cart near her that was loaded with a stack of boxes when the stack of boxes collapsed and landed on her head, neck, shoulder and back.

The unknown employee was negligent in causing or allowing the stack of boxes to land on Hanson, according to the suit.

Hanson claims she has suffered significant and permanent injuries.

Hanson is seeking compensatory damages in an amount less than $75,000, with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Andrew G. Meek.
