Sod woman says 76 companies responsible for husband's lung cancer, death

CHARLESTON -- A Sod woman is suing 76 companies that she claims are responsible for her husband's lung cancer and death.

On May 1, 2008, Marion Paul Barker was diagnosed with lung cancer, according to a complaint filed Oct. 26 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Ethel M. Barker claims her late husband's lung cancer led to his death on Nov. 4, 2008.

Marion Paul Barker was exposed to asbestos and asbestos fibers throughout his career, according to the suit.

Ethel M. Barker claims the defendants were negligent in allowing her late husband to be exposed to the asbestos.

Ethel M. Barker is seeking a jury trial to resolve all issues involved. She is being represented by Victoria Antion and Bronwyn I. Rhinehart.

The case has been assigned to a visiting judge.
