HUNTINGTON -- A Barboursville man is suing Schooner's Bar & Grill after he claims it failed to pay wages owed to him.
Mark Canterbury was a manager at Schooner's until his employment was terminated on Aug. 13, according to a complaint filed Nov. 17 in Cabell Circuit Court.
Canterbury claims the defendant owed him wages from July 15 until Aug. 13.
On Sept. 1, the defendant wrote a check for $2,708 to Canterbury for his wages earned in July, but not for the first two weeks of August, according to the suit.
Canterbury claims the defendant owes him $5,416.
Schooner's violated the Wage Payment and Collection Act by failing to pay Canterbury's wages in full without 72 hours from the date of his termination, according to the suit.
Canterbury is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by William L. Mundy.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
