CHARLESTON -- A Kanawha County woman is suing Wal-mart for injuries she claims she sustained at one of its stores.
On Dec. 3, 2008, Gwendolyn Crouser was a customer at the South Charleston Wal-mart when she tripped and fell in the produce section of the store, according to a complaint filed Nov. 12 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Crouser claims the defendant negligently maintained its sprinkler system, which caused water to be deposited on the floor in front of the produce. She claims Wal-mart also negligently placed and maintained mats or rugs in front of the produce displays.
As a result of Wal-mart's negligence, Crouser suffered a permanent injury, according to the suit.
Crouser is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Mark Moreland.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
