Former employee sues Fantastic Sam's for wrongful termination

HUNTINGTON -- A former employee is suing Fantastic Sam's after she claims her employment was wrongfully terminated.

Linda Eddy, a store manager for Fantastic Sam's, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

Tammy Pack Riley was employed at Fantastic Sam's until Nov. 28, 2008, according to a complaint filed Dec. 10 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Riley claims Eddy called her into her office and told her she was fired because her boyfriend had came in with an illegal substance and was trying to sell it to employees and customers.

The plaintiff had worked for Fantastic Sam's on and off for 14 years without any performance issues or any written reports for problems with her performance, attendance or anything else, according to the suit.

Riley claims she was not given the opportunity to defend herself or respond to the incident identified as reason for her termination.

Riley is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by R. Stephen Jarrell.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
