Norma Quinn, Conservator of John H. Quinn vs WVU Hospitals Inc.
PA-Larry O. Ford; J-NA
* John Quinn was admitted to Monongalia General Hospital with a history of ulcers with related bleeding. Due to the blood loss which doctors believed resulted from gastrointestinal bleeding, Quinn developed a seizure disorder. He was then transferred to the epilepsy unit of Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was treated with Ativan, which caused him to become lethargic and non-responsive. Once he became responsive, he was transferred to the skilled care unit of the hospital, where he fell. During a cigarette break of one of the sitters, Quinn needed assistance from a nurse to use to the bathroom. Once he was in the bathroom, the nurse left leaving Quinn alone in bathroom. Norma Quinn, who was also in the room, heard a loud noise and found Quinn on the floor. He struck his head and as a result sustained a subdural hematoma. Norma Quinn is seeking damages, costs, and interest.
