Woman sues Huntington HIT Center for injuries

HUNTINGTON – A woman is suing Huntington HIT Center after she sustained injuries at its facility.

Martin Johnson, an employee of the Huntington HIT Center, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

On Jan. 6, 2009, Lauren McComas enrolled in a program at the HIT Center, according to a complaint filed Jan. 10 in Cabell Circuit Court.

McComas claims prior to enrolling, she had clearly disclosed her medical history on a form provided by the defendants, which included her previous meniscus inflammation, weak ankles and stress fractures in her foot and knee injury.

On Jan. 15, 2009, McComas claims the defendants negligently instructed her to perform heel lift exercises, despite the fact that she was not physically capable of performing such exercises.

While attempting to perform the heel lift exercise, McComas sustained a fracture in her right foot, according to the suit.

McComas is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Michael L. Glasser.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge David M. Pancake.
