MORGANTOWN – A woman is suing two separate couples after she claims they are responsible for allowing a dog to attack her.
On March 7, 2009, while Jennie V. Wydo was attacked by a St. Bernard dog that was owned by Jack and Paula Saurborn, according to a complaint filed March 4 in Monongalia Circuit Court.
Wydo claims she was in her own yard when the dog crossed the creek, entered her property and attacked her without provocation.
The Saurborns owned at least two St. Bernard dogs and at the time of the attack, Paula Saurborn was attempting to control at least one of the dogs on a leash, when she "negligently released control" of the dog, according to the suit.
Wydo claims she suffered permanent scarring and disfigurement where the dog bit and attacked her; doctor, hospital and medical bills in excess of $250,000; and an inability to continue her normal daily pursuits.
Paul and Carol Douglas, as owners of the residence occupied by the Saurborns, knew or should have known that vicious dogs were housed at the residence, according to the suit.
Wydo is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Sean J. Sawyer.
