Former employee sues Atlantic Development and Capital for wrongful termination

CHARLESTON -- A former employee is suing Atlantic Development and Capital after he claims he was wrongfully terminated from his employment.

Beth Roberts, a supervisor at the company, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

Ernest Chad Green was employed by the defendants from Sept. 1, 2007, until June 14, 2010, according to a complaint filed Feb. 18 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Green claims that prior to the day of his discharge he was injured on the job and had filed a Workers' Compensation claim.

Atlantic Development and Capital terminated Green's employment because he filed for and received Workers' Compensation benefits, according to the suit.

Green claims the defendants violated state public policy by discriminating against him and terminating his employment.

Green is seeking compensatory and punitive damages. He is being represented by J. Michael Ranson, Cynthia M. Ranson, George B. Morrone III and G. Patrick Jacobs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
