Charleston woman says she was wrongfully fired from Headwaters

CHARLESTON -- A former employee is suing Headwaters Inc. after she claims her employment was wrongfully terminated.

Charles Roberts, an employee and supervisor at Headwaters was also named as a defendant in the suit.

From Aug. 31, 2007, until July 13, 2009, Rachel Beckett was employed as an administrative assistant for Headwaters, Inc., according to a complaint filed March 10 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Beckett claims during her employment she had made complaints regarding inappropriate conduct by other employees, including sexual harassment.

The defendants and their male employees used mobile telephones provided by the company to engage in inappropriate telephone calls to Beckett's mobile telephone and also sending "inappropriate photographic images," according to the suit.

Beckett claims Roberts directly retaliated against her after she made the complaints by unlawfully terminating her employment

Beckett is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre-judgment interest. She is being represented by Michael A. Olivio and Travis A. Griffith.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis Bloom.
