Former student says W.Va. State didn't reimburse him for classes

CHARLESTON -- A former student in suing West Virginia State University after he claims it failed to reimburse him for classes.

David L. Lottig Jr. was a student at West Virginia State University and began attending classes in August 2000, according to a complaint filed March 22 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Lottig claims when his mother became ill, he made arrangements with his professors to make up his school work when he returned, but after his mother's death and upon returning to school, he was told he had missed too much school and would not pass his classes.

Lottig is seeking judgment in the amount of $20,000 to reimburse him for tuition. He is representing himself.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James C. Stucky.
