Lincoln Co. couple wants damages for poor roof work

CHARLESTON -- A Lincoln County couple is suing Bill Brown Construction after they claim the company performed haphazard work that violated building codes.

On Dec. 1, 2009, Edward L. Neese and Carolyn L. Neese contracted with the defendant to place a new roof on their home, according to a complaint filed March 22 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

The Neeses claim they paid the defendant $5,000 for the roof.

The defendant performed certain work on the home that was done in a haphazard and un-workmanship manner and was at times done in violation of applicable building codes, according to the suit.

The Neeses claim as a result of the defendant's failure to perform the work in a proper manner, they have experienced leaks in the roof, moisture in the attic and other difficulties that have resulted in severe damage to their home.

As a result, the Neeses have suffered monetary loss and loss of use, according to the suit.

The Neeses are seeking compensatory damages. They are being represented by William E. Murray.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
