Pa. couple list 184 companies in asbestos case

CHARLESTON -- A Gibsonia, Pa., couple is suing 184 companies they came are responsible for an asbestosis and mesothelioma diagnosis.

Karl H. Lange was diagnosed with asbestosis and mesothelioma after working for the defendants throughout his working career, according to a complaint filed March 30 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Lange claims the defendants failed to warn him of the dangers of asbestos products; failed to take reasonable precautions to warn him of the dangers; failed to exercise reasonable care to warn him of the dangers; and failed to inform him of what would be safe and proper methods of handling and using asbestos-containing products.

The defendants' negligence caused Lange to suffer by exposing him to the asbestos-containing products, according to the suit.

Lange and his wife, Dorothy E, Lange, are seeking compensatory and punitive damages. They are being represented by David P. Chervenick, Bruce E. Mattock, Lief J. Ocheltree and Scott S. Segal.

The case has been assigned to a visiting judge.
