Man sues Chasers Sports Bar for injuries

CHARLESTON -- A Kanawha County man is suing Chasers Sports Bar after he claims he fell through a hole on the second floor of the bar.

Shawn Little, the owner of S&E Enterprises, which is doing business as Chasers Sports Bar, was also named as a defendant in the suit.

Robert Halsey was at Chasers Sports Bar when he fell through the hole int he second floor and suffered severe and debilitating injuries, according to a complaint filed April 4 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Halsey claims the hole previously had railing around it to prevent patrons from falling through, but Little negligently removed the railing.

The defendants knew or should have known that the removal of the railing and existence of the huge opening in the floor was likely to cause serious injuries due to the extreme fall hazard, according to the suit.

Halsey is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by James R. Fox.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Paul Zakaib Jr.
