CHARLESTON -- A Charleston woman is suing Raines Imports after she claims employees failed to remove pieces of glass during sunroof repairs, which caused her injuries.
Raines Imports, Inc., is doing business as Lester Raines Mitsubishi.
On Aug. 7, 2009, Mary Elizabeth Lawrence had repairs made to the sunroof of her Mitsubishi Eclipse at the defendant's place of business, according to a complaint filed April 22 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Lawrence claims on Aug. 25, 2009, she was traveling on Route 119 and began to pull the cover of her sunroof shut when glass began to fall from the sunroof into her eyes, causing her to lose sight of the road and read end another driver.
After the collision, Lawrence observed the small pieces of glass coming from the sunroof were left in the cover following the repairs that were done earlier in the month, according to the suit.
Lawrence claims the defendant failed to properly dispose of the glass following the repairs.
The defendant's negligence caused Lawrence to sustain injuries and incur hospital, doctor and medical expenses, according to the suit.
Lawrence is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Shannon M. Bland.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
