* Linda Adams is seeking damages in the wrongful death of her husband. Joseph Adams suffered from an inguinal hernia for which surgery was recommended.With a history of coronary artery disease and a previous 3-vessel artery bypass, Adams was referred for a cardiac assessment. He received a stress test that showed no EKG changes or symptoms but was not cleared for surgery. He was given a cardiac catherization where coronary artery stenosis was found. Linda Adams claims he was not carefully monitored, and as a result he developed an intracranial hemorrhage. He was then taken to ICU where he later died.

* Uma and Magesh Sundaram allege Ehab El Akkary filed a false and slanderous complaint against them with the State of West Virginia Board of Medicine. They also claim he made defamatory remarks about Magesh Sundaram's surgical abilities to Sundaram's patient. As a result of the complaint, Uma Sundaram was unable to take a position with WVU Hospitals and Magesh Sundaram was not able to obtain a promotion to full professor at WVU Hospitals. The Sundaram's seek compensatory, general and punitive damages, costs and attorney fees.
