Two physicians sue another for false complaint

MORGANTOWN – Two Monongalia County physicians are suing another physician they claim made a false, defamatory and slanderous complaint against them.

On March 8, Dr. Ehab El Akkary filed the alleged false, defamatory and slanderous complaint against Drs. Uma Sundaram and Magesh Sundaram, according to a complaint filed June 2 in Monongalia Circuit Court.

Akkary's intentionally made the slanderous and defamatory remarks regarding Magesh Sundaram's surgical abilities to one of Magesh Sundaram's patients, according to the suit.

The Sundarams claim Akkary's actions caused Uma Sundaram to not be able to take a newly created position at West Virginia University Hospital for which he was qualified and which would have enhanced his career because the hospital administration decided to wait until the investigation into the complaint filed by Akkary was completed due to the nature of the accusations.

Akkary's actions resulted in Magesh Sundaram not being able to obtain the promotion to Full Professor at West Virginia University Hospital because her chairman has not been completely supportive, according to the suit.

The Sundarams are seeking damages for injuries sustained.
