CHARLESTON -- A Putnam County woman is suing her former employer after she says Summit Community Bank wrongfully terminated her.
Teri L. Roberts was employed at Summit Community Bank for approximately four and one-half years, according to a complaint filed June 3 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Roberts claims her employment was "willfully, maliciously and unlawfully terminated" on May 25.
As a result of the defendant's actions, Roberts suffered lost wages and benefits, according to the suit.
Roberts claims her employment was terminated because of her disability and/or perceived disability, as she has a neurological condition that causes seizures.
The defendant also failed to accommodate Roberts' disability, which violates the West Virginia Human Rights Act, according to the suit.
Roberts is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre-judgment interest. She is being represented by Mart A. Atkinson.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey.
