Woman sues Ntelos for wrongful termination

CHARLESTON -- A Kanawha County woman is suing Ntelos of West Virginia after she claims her employment was wrongfully terminated.

Amanda Doss and Pam McGowan, who are Ntelos of West Virginia employees, were also named as defendants in the suit.

On May 28, Joyce H. Watson was discharged from her employment based on her disability, according to a complaint filed June 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Watson claims the defendants' discriminated against her because of her neurological condition of viral meningitis and failed to accommodate her disability, which violated the West Virginia Human Rights Act.

As a result of the defendants' actions, Watson suffered embarrassment and humiliation; indignity; and lost wages and benefits, according to the suit.

Watson claims the defendants willfully and maliciously terminated her employment.

Watson is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre-judgment interest. She is being represented by Mark A. Atkinson.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
