HUNTINGTON -- A Milton woman is suing Advance Auto Parts for selling her a defective auto part for her vehicle.
On Nov. 10, 2010, Jessica Melton purchased an auto part form the defendant, according to a complaint filed June 14 in Cabell Circuit Court.
Melton claims on Dec. 24, 2010, the auto part broke when she was traveling on Interstate 64, resulting in the left rear wheel of her vehicle coming off and the vehicle hitting a guard rail.
The auto part was defective and the defendant was negligent in selling the defective auto part, according to the suit.
Melton claims the defendant's actions caused her to sustain injuries her to collar bone.
The defendant's negligence also caused Melton to sustain pain and suffering; loss of earnings; and loss of enjoyment of life, according to the suit.
Melton is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by David O. Moye and Lisa M. Moye.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
