CHARLESTON -- A former Radio Shack employee is suing the company for failing to pay his final wages in a timely manner.
Monty R. Skeen Jr. was employed by Radio Shack from Oct. 12, 2004, until Aug. 2, 2010, when his employment was terminated, according to a complaint filed June 21 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Skeen claims the defendant failed to pay his employment wages and/or fringe benefits in full within 72 hours of his discharge.
The defendant failed to give Skeen his final employment wages and/or fringe benefits until Aug. 16, 2010, according to the suit.
Skeen claims the defendant violated the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act.
The defendant's violation of the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act caused Skeen damages, according to the suit.
Skeen is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by Todd S. Bailess and Joy B. Mega.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge James C. Stucky.
