Two women sue W.Va. Power for sexual harassment

CHARLESTON -- Two employees are suing West Virginia Baseball after they claim they were sexually harassed.

An employee, Julio Cerveras, and John Doe, unknown person or persons, were also named as defendants in the suit.

Christina Izzo and Kelli Simmons Hagerman were employed by the defendants and worked at Power Park in Charleston, according to two complaints filed July 12 and July 15 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Izzo and Hagerman claim Cerveras sexually harassed and sexually abused them while they were working.

West Virginia Baseball had a duty to provide Izzo and Hagerman with a reasonably safe employment and a duty to properly staff, hire, train, retain and supervise the staff, according to the suits.

Izzo and Hagerman claim West Virginia Baseball knew or should have known that working at Power Park in the presence of Cerveras exposed them to a substantial risk of sexual harassment and sexual abuse.

West Virginia Baseball negligently failed to supervise and train Cerveras, according to the suits.

Izzo and Hagerman are seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre-judgment interest. They are being represented by Michael A. Woelfel.

The cases have been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
