CHARLESTON -- A Dunbar woman is suing Family Dollar after she slipped and fell on a slippery substance in the floor of the store.
On July 23, 2009, Karen Harper was shopping in the Family Dollar in Dunbar when she slipped and fell and was injured, according to a complaint filed July 22 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Harper claims there were no warning signs posted within the proximity of the slippery substance, which she believes was liquid soap.
The manager, employees and/or store operator knew or should have known of the slippery substance in the floor, according to the suit.
Harper claims the defendant failed to clean up the floor.
Harper is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Maggie K. Wall and G. Wayne Van Bibber.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
