Woman sues Kanawha library board for injuries from fall

CHARLESTON -- A Charleston woman is suing the Kanawha County Public Library Board of Directors after she claims she fell due to the presence of a slippery area and was injured.

On Aug. 8, 2009, Stacie Manns was at the Kanawha County Public Library in Dunbar when she slipped and fell on the slippery area in the restroom and was injured, according to a complaint filed July 29 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Mann claims the defendant had a duty to keep and maintain its libraries and premises in a reasonably safe condition and was negligent in doing so.

The defendant was negligent and breached its duty owed to Manns by allowing the slippery area to remain on the floor and in doing so, caused Manns to sustain injuries, according to the suit.

Manns is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by William M. Harding.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
