Huntington attorney works on $32 million NYC case

HUNTINGTON – A Huntington mesothelioma attorney has helped to secure a $32 million verdict for a Kentucky man in a New York City trial.

Timothy L. Eves represented former U.S. Navy boiler tender Ronald Dummitt in the lawsuit.

A jury determined that companies failed to warn Dummitt about the dangers of the asbestos exposure that led to him developing mesothelioma, according to a news release.

Dummitt developed the incurable disease while working aboard several ships during his Navy career.

After an eight-week trial in lower Manhattan before Judge Joan A. Madden, the jury returned the verdict on Aug. 17.

Dummitt is now 68 years old.

Testifying on behalf of the plaintiff were Dr. Jacqueline Moline, an expert in occupational medicine, Dr. Barry Castelman, a public health expert, and Richard Hatfield, a materials analyst, as well as his treating physician, Gerritt Kimmey, an oncologist from Huntington.
