West Hamlin couple names 46 companies in asbestos complaint

CHARLESTON -- A West Hamlin couple is suing 46 companies they claim caused an asbestos exposure that resulted in a lung cancer diagnosis.

On April 13, 2010, Glen "Judy" Pritchard was diagnosed with lung cancer, according to a complaint filed Aug. 9 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Pritchard claims he was exposed to asbestos during his employment as a laborer, mechanic and construction worker from 1974 to the present.

The defendants are being sued upon theories of negligence, contaminated buildings, breach of expressed/implied warranty, strict liability, intentional tort, conspiracy, misrepresentation and post-sale duty to warn, according to the suit.

Pritchard and his wife, Ellen V. Pritchard, are seeking a jury trial to resolve all issued involved. They are being represented by Victoria L. Antion.

The case has been assigned to a visiting judge.
