Former employee says CAMC wasn't timely in paying final wages

CHARLESTON -- A former employee is suing Charleston Area Medical Center for failure to pay wages within 72 hours of discharge.

Yvette Jones was employed by the defendant until her discharge on May 11, according to a complaint filed Aug. 30 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Jones claims the defendant failed to pay her final wages within 72 hours of being discharged and violates West Virginia code.

The defendant's actions violated the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act, according to the suit.

Jones is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Todd S. Bailess and Joy B. Mega.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
