S&S Construction & Electric sued by employee for injuries

HUNTINGTON -- S&S Construction and Electric is being sued by an employee who claims he was injured while on the job.

Gary Stanley, an employee of S&S, also was named as a defendant in the suit.

On April 26, Donnie Roberts was installing screen doors at a residence under the direction, supervision, management and control of the defendants, according to a complaint filed Sept. 1 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Roberts claims Stanley advised him to utilize a circular saw to rip trim board to fit around the screen door.

While utilizing the circular saw, Roberts cut his hand and was injured, according to the suit.

Roberts claims the defendants' actions were wanton, reckless, careless and negligent in its supervision and in its carrying on of construction operations.

The defendants' failure to ensure that their employees were provided safe places and conditions in which to work and to properly supervise and direct the construction operations, according to the suit.

Roberts claims the defendants also failed to comply with federal and state safety rules, laws and regulations.

The defendants' failure to provide safety equipment for its employees caused Roberts to be injured, according to the suit.

Roberts is seeking compensatory damages. He is being represented by Paul E. Biser.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
