MORGANTOWN – A Monongalia County couple is suing Wood Holdings for injuries sustained at its garage.
Michael Wood, the manager of the facility, was also named as a defendant in the suit.
On Sept. 5, 2009, Helen Walls and Thomas Walls were picking up their vehicle, a 2008 Kia Sportage, from the defendants, according to a complaint filed Sept. 6 in Monongalia Circuit Court.
The Wallses claim the defendants negligently, carelessly and recklessly directed them to go into the actual garage/service area in order to complete the transaction for return of their vehicle.
After completing the transaction in the service area, the couple was directed by employees to exit the service area, according to the suit.
The couple claims between the time that they had entered the garage and the time they left, a vehicle was negligently, carelessly and recklessly parked and/or allowed to be parked by the defendants in the driveway to the garage.
Mrs. Walls, in an attempt to go around the vehicle, fell from the elevated platform that did not have handrails and/or any type of warning signs, according to the suit.
The couple claims the defendants caused Mrs. Walls to sustain injuries, including bruises to her thigh, a broken ankle in two places and injuries to her shoulder.
The Wallses are seeking compensatory damages. They are being represented by John B. Brooks.
