Wayne Co. woman sues Cabell Huntington Hospital for injuries

HUNTINGTON -- A Wayne County woman is suing Cabell Huntington Hospital after she was injured on the hospital premises.

On Sept. 13, 2009, Jane Hayton was on the defendant's premises when she slipped on a foreign substance on the ground and fell when she exited a restroom, according to a complaint filed Sept. 12 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Hayton claims the defendant negligently and carelessly caused or allowed the foreign substance to be placed on the floor of the hospital, creating a hazardous condition that was not open or obvious to visual inspection.

As a result of the defendant's negligence acts, Hayton suffered bodily injuries, both temporary and permanent; suffered great pain of body and mind; and sustained lost wages, according to the suit.

Hayton is seeking compensatory damages. She is being represented by Scott D. Maddox.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
