Former employee says nursing home didn't pay final wages in timely manner

WINFIELD -- A former employee is suing Teays Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for failure to pay wages within 72 hours of discharge.

Carol S. Williams was employed by the defendant from Jan. 10, 2007, until May 27, according to a complaint filed Sept. 23 in Putnam Circuit Court.

Williams claims when the defendant terminated her employment, it failed to pay her final wages within 72 hours of discharge, which is in violation of the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act.

The defendant's violation of the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act entitles Williams to an aware of wages and benefits due, plus interest, according to the suit.

Williams is seeking judgment against the defendant for an amount equal to loss of all wages with interest and liquidated damages. She is being represented by J. Michael Ranson, Cynthia M. Ranson, George B. Morrone III and G. Patrick Jacobs.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Phillip Stowers.
