Julie Ray, administratrix of the Estate of Cluther Allen Ray vs. Michael Willford Halley, M.D.

* On Feb. 16, Mr. Ray presented to the emergency department of Thomas Memorial Hospital with complaints of abdominal pain and upper gastric pain. Mr. Ray was given an EKG, which Halley stated was normal. The following day, a cardiologist was consulted when it was discovered that Mr. Ray's EKG was not normal and revealed that he had suffered a heart attack. Mrs. Ray claims her husband had emergency heart surgery, but remained in the hospital until his death on May 4, suffering from heart failure due to the delay in diagnosing and treating his heart attack. Mrs. Ray is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest.

* On April 24, 2008, Mrs. Raines complained of inflammation, rash, lesion and/or discomfort in or around her external genitalia to Pearcy. In October 2009, she discovered a lump in her right inguinal region and in December 2009, an inguinal lymph node biopsy revealed poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Mrs. Raines claims Pearcy failed to properly and/or timely diagnose or investigate her squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva. The couple is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest.

* Hall is an experienced underground coal miner who has worked in West Virginia mines for nearly 30 years. Hall began working for Remington in 2009 and had previously worked for the company in 2007-2008, according to the suit. Hall claims during his employment he was severely harassed by a limited number of employees; was antagonized, harassed and bullied by employees; and was sexually harassed by one employee. He is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

* On May 31, Walker was working as a coal truck driver for Medford Trucking and hauling coal from the Republic Energy surface mine when a Massey employee operating a Caterpillar 992D front end loader failed to operate the machine in a safe manner and injured Walker. * Matthew Jarrell was a pastor, employee and president of the Open Door Baptist Church and traveled to various locations in West Virginia and Pennsylvania holding revivals, giving guest sermons at local churches and attending Baptist meetings. On May 19, Matthew Jarrell enticed E.B. into a 2007 Dodge truck owed by the church and drove to a secluded location, where he "brutally sexually assaulted and raped the plaintiff." E.B. is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
