Mother sues Kanawha school board for son's playground injuries

CHARLESTON -- A mother is suing the Kanawha County Board of Education after she claims they are responsible for her son's injuries he sustained on a playground.

On May 18, Jacob Wilson was participating in activities at the Shawnee Community Center playground when he was injured, according to a complaint filed Sept. 26 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Kylan Wilson claims her son was injured as a result of the defendant's failure to properly manage and supervise the playground.

As a result of the defendant's negligence and carelessness, Jacob Wilson has been caused to suffer serious and disabling injuries that are permanent and lasting in nature, according to the suit.

Kylan Wilson claims the defendant's negligence and carelessness caused her to incur in excess of $30,000 for the care and treatment of her son's injuries.

The defendant was not adequately supervising the playground while Jacob Wilson was participating in playground activities, according to the suit.

Kylan Wilson is seeking compensatory damages in the amount in excess of $30,000 with pre-judgment interest. She is being represented by Bruce L. Freeman.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Carrie Webster.
