CHARLESTON – Two out-of-state attorneys have decided to shutter their practices in West Virginia.
The state Supreme Court on Oct. 21 accepted the voluntary resignation of Amy Beth Maloy and Robert B. Manetta from the state Bar. In their separate petitions, both cited retirement as the reasons for their resignations.
In her petition dated July 11, Maloy, an attorney in Key West, Fla., said she is retiring from the active practice of law in order to work for a non-profit agency focused on behavioral health. While she plans to keep her Florida license, she's relinquishing her licenses in West Virginia, Massachusetts and the District of Columbia in an effort to "reduce unnecessary professional expenses."
Like Maloy, Manetta, an attorney in Roanoke, Va., in his petition dated July 13, said he "is now retired from active practice, and has no plans to return to or practice in the state of West Virginia."
According to the Bar's Web site, Maloy was admitted on June 17, 2003, and Manetta on May 20, 1980.
