Va. man sues Steel of West Virginia for injuries

HUNTINGTON -- An Atkins, Va., man is suing Steel of West Virginia, Inc. after he was injured on its premises.

On Jan. 6, 2010, Robert Holman was a business invitee at the defendant's premises and was present to retrieve and haul several cross members, according to a complaint filed Oct. 21 in Cabell Circuit Court.

Holman claims while exiting his vehicle he fell on a four-foot tubing pipe located on the side of the truck scales and was injured.

The defendant failed to properly keep and maintain its premises clear of any known hazards and failed to warn of any potential hazards that may exist, according to the suit.

Holman claims Steel of West Virginia also failed to post any type of warning or notice of potential hazards and failed to provide an adequate handrail system on the truck scales.

As a result of Steel of West Virginia's negligence, Holman sustained injuries, including a torn meniscus in his left knee, nerve damage throughout his right leg and back and a sprained left wrist, according to the suit.

Holman is seeking compensatory damages. He is being represented by Charles A. Stacy.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge F. Jane Hustead.
