Nov. 8
Jennifer Parrish vs. Best Buy Stores and E-P Equipment Company
PA-Jeffrey Robinette; J-NA
* As an employee of Best Buy, Parrish was performing inventory duties at her desk in the warehouse. A truck arrived with goods intended for the University Towne Center store, but the merchandise was in the back of the trailer and wrapped pallets of goods in the front of the truck first needed to be relocated to another trailer. Because the Product Process and General Manager were too busy to unload the trailer, Parrish was directed to unload the merchandise. She advised she didn't have any training in unloading or using the pallet jack, but managed to unload the wrapped pallets into another trailer. While attempting to return the pallet jack to the delivery trailer, it jack-knifed and slammed into her foot. Her foot began to swell and turned black and blue, but she was instructed to continue working and finish unloading the truck. She is seeking judgement for damages, pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and attorney fees.
