CHARLESTON -- A Lincoln County man is suing a physician who he claims did not adequately administer or prescribe proper antibiotics for him.
On Nov. 18, 2010, Michael Miller underwent a procedure performed by Dr. Karim Katrib at Thomas Memorial Hospital, according to a complaint filed Nov. 7 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Miller claims Katrib did not adequately administer and/or prescribe proper antibiotics.
Later in the day, Miller was discharged and allowed to return home, according to the suit, but the next day, Miller was air lifted by HealthNet to Charleston Area Medical Center, where he was diagnosed as suffering from septic shock, respiratory failure, liver failure and kidney failure.
Miller claims Katrib was negligent and caused him harm.
Katrib caused Miller to sustain bodily injuries, physical pain, mental anguish and disfigurement and deformities, according to the suit.
Miller is seeking compensatory and punitive damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. He is being represented by Richard D. Lindsay and Dr. Richard D. Lindsay.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Louis H. Bloom.
