Putnam County woman sues individual, unnamed corporation for injuries

WINFIELD -- A Putnam County woman is suing a property owner and an unnamed corporation after she claims she sustained injuries on a rental property.

On Nov. 24, 2009, Diane Jett slipped and fell while on rental property owned by Ghassan A. Assi and the unnamed corporation, according to a complaint filed Nov. 9 in Putnam Circuit Court.

Jett claims the defendants allowed the dangerous conditions to exist on the rental property.

The defendants failed to maintain/upkeep the steps and decking, which caused Jett to injure her left knee and right elbow, according to the suit.

Jett claims she also required surgical arthroscopy to her left knee with partial medial meniscectomy and tricompartmental chondroplasty and extensive synovectomy.

The defendants had a duty of reasonable care and breached that duty by failing to maintain the rental property, according to the suit.

Jett is seeking compensatory damages with pre- and post-judgment interest. She is being represented by Robert B. Warner and Tammy Bowles Raines.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Phillip Stowers.
