CHARLESTON -- A former employee is suing BEK Enterprises for failure to pay final wages on time.
Patricia Ann Copening was employed by the defendant, which was d/b/a Slyce Pizza Company from May 4 until Aug. 19, according to a complaint filed Nov. 16 in Kanawha Circuit Court.
Copening claims the defendant failed to pay her final wages within 72 hours of discharging her from her employment.
As a result of the defendant's violation of the West Virginia Wage Payment and Collection Act, Copening is entitled to an award of wages and benefits due, plus interest, according to the suit.
Copening is seeking compensatory and liquidated damages. She is being represented by J. Michael Ranson, Cynthia M. Ranson, George B. Morrone III and G. Patrick Jacobs.
The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Charles E. King.
